I need a set as well and started to make some out of fiberglass but
they need some work (hard to get them stiff enough to mate correctly)
so then I got to thinking that it would be really nice to make them
out of polished solid oak instead.
First off I don't think they are a PMAed so I think we can do
this....
I don't have a wood lathe but if someone could turn me the 1/2
spheres
I could do the rest on the CNC. The inside has to be hollowed and
routed out with 120 degree spokes to fit the yoke and a bolt pattern
has to be drilled accurately. Threaded inserts have to be epoxied in
place for the bolts and the backside has to be counterbored so the
bolts will be flush. The front will have a 1/8" indentation for
round
brass logos to go in.
I can engrave brass logos to go in the centers. I just love the look
of brass on oak :) I'm engraving a panel for a Short Winger right
now
so I'm set up for this.
I'm sure there are several people on this list so we could recoup our
costs. Any woodworkers on this list have a wood lathe and want to
turn and polish (lindseed oil and varnish) the "halves"?? Email me
privately at home... [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Keep em flyin' (and lookin' good!)
