Actually, that is pretty much how you dive from an open-cockpit biplane.  
The jumper grasps the handholds on the upper wing and takes off his safety

belts.  The pilot takes the plane into a loop, and at the top of the loop 
when the plane is inverted, the jumper is then hanging under the upper
wing 
and lets go.
