at your next annual ask your inspector to look at the rivets inside your
header tank. The fuel shutoff valve attachment is riveted to the tank,
with a compound sealant between the 2 pieces. If your plane had ever sat
around, and the rivets are rusted off as mine were, all it takes is one
good twist on a stubborn fuel valve and the whole assembly will break
loose - giving you 5 gallons of avgas in your lap. not a good thing.

You have to use a small flashlight and mirror, or better yet a borescope.
A lot of mechs have a simplified version of a borescope that uses a
little mag lite as the light source. Once the valve adapter is off it
cleans up really easy. 2 good sealants are PRO-SEAL and SEMKIT B.
