Hello to all!! I thought that I would give you all a tidbit of my trek cross country with my newly purchased coupe (now 31/2 yrs ago) I made the deal a couple of weeks earlier near St Louis on the ILL side I now needed a ride down and a couper was able to get both he and I a ride down south to pick up the new pride and joy.Bill Coons is the couperthat secured the ride for both of us in a twin apache ( I think) nice ride! We got to Springfield ILL where the new purchase was to be but the seller decided to pick up up in a truck and drive us south to the coupe This in itself set us back over two plus hours.So off we go to my new coupe we get there finish the deal trade keys for cash. top her off and take off the grass strip awaywe go Bill had several GPS"S with him as he works for JA and they , and the manufactures have a try and buy at least through him you get to try the handheld in flight WOW nice Garmin 195 at that time. we are behind schedule and the weather SW of us is DARK so I said Hey Bill let's go in to Springfield and see what the real thing is on Radar so I called approach they said sqwak 0456 and I did. they said we do not have you on radar so I recycled and did it again the transponder wasn't working so they asked me if I was over such and such road and I replied not sure they said take a heading of 270 @2000' and right then my compas fell off .. Bill caught it. hey called me back to tell me They had me in sight and I was cleared for a straight in for RWY 30 .I'm thinking why did I buy this thing and Bill was trying to reattach the compass mount with some tape to the center post.We both started to laugh. I taxied to The Wrights hanger when I was approached by a couple of nice guys they said hurry or you will miss the train to Chgo .Give us the keys and we will hangar the plane for you SO bill and I cleared whatever we needed out of the plane and these guys raced us to the train that was ready to leave 41/2 hrs later we were downtown Chgo very very tired.I said hey Bill I'll buy some Tacos are you hungary he sai d Ya why not So we both sat down to eat and we were talkin about the crazy day we had when we realized that we were being sized up by a very pretty lady that sat down right next to us (there were chairs everywhere ) but she chose to sit in on our conversation.I said Hey Bill I think our day might have just begun.It turned out that she was really a nice person that wanted to talk too and we looked safe I guess> Any way that's most all of what happened I'll finish up later with the trip home by coupe Dennis 99564 in ILL __________________________________________________ To unsubscribe from this list please send mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] ___________________________________________________________ T O P I C A http://www.topica.com/t/17 Newsletters, Tips and Discussions on Your Favorite Topics
