Thanks one and all for your suggestions and comments on my
"gushing fuel" question.

The comments evolved into a discussion on fuel draining
back into the wing tanks when the aircraft is parked.

I had assumed that the fuel loss from the header tank while
parked was due to a leaky needle valve in the carburetor.
(I have the Stromberg) and that it wasn't worth the bother to
fix it. I simply shut the header valve off each time I park the
plane.

Comments on this would be appreciated. Is my fuel loss through
a faulty needle valve or just drain back to the wing tanks.
If it does drain back the into the wing tanks, what is the path?

Is the leakage through the carb worth bothering about? Is it worth
my while to look for the "other" brand carburetor and get rid of the
Stromberg? From comments I have read here, the Marvel seems to be
the preferred carburetor. Is replacement a simple bolt on operation,
or does shrouding, carb heat ducts, etc have to be changed?

Thanks again for all the useful info.
