Rob, if I may, I might add that I feel it can sometimes be worse from a safety standpoint to disturb (replace, re-rig) a properly working flight component that is in specs and working well, depending upon the AP or AI doing the work.
If it is properly and carefully inspected to be good condition, in good mechanical order, and it's physical design conforms fully to the AD, it's just seems ludicrous to cause you all this grief over the stupid number. Hope things work out. Artie N2666H
