Each state has it's own wrincle.  Oregon used to issue a sticker that
you put on the tail somewhere.  That way, you could base your plane
in Washington, and not get caught up for their state taxes.  Oregon
is only $50/year for an Ercoupe.
  Oregon no longer has a sticker.  I don't know if the Washington 
state persons are looking at airplanes.  It is easier to follow the
Oregon license plated home from the Interstate Bridge and make their
life difficult - there is a BIG difference on what one pays for Oregon
and Washington car registration.
  Upshot - You can register any plane any where.  If you can show that
it is really from out-of-state, they will probably let you scate.  If
They do not check the airports, why let `em know?
