For what it's worth, I wanted to change the yokes on the M10 to something from another make and model entirely. The FAA inspector told me to find something that would fit, and be at least as strong as the original as far as the material and wall thickness where it mounts. He said if the mechanic thought it was OK, he'd sign a field approval sheet (337).
