I recently purchased a '61 Forney F1-A. Shortly after getting it home
after
approximately 10 hours in my possesion, it suddenly began running rough on
a
short local flight. After a precautionary landing it ran up without
problem. The plugs were fouled with dry carbon and lacking any previous
history as to how long since the plugs were cleaned, I cleaned them and
began cautiously flying again. Within about 10 hours, the same roughness
beset the engine and I contacted El Reno Avaition. Two facts emerged.
The
carb was actually from an O-200 and it had a single peice venturi. If you
think that is rich in an O-200 you ought to see it in a C-90!

According to Ted at El Reno the only difference between the C-90 and O-200
carbs is the nozzle, a 47-850 in the O-200 vs. a 47-853 in the C-90.

I just received the new nozzle today ($135) and have not put the coupe
back
together again but am confident of the outcome.

If anyone needs the 47-850 nozzle and an O-200 carb data plate, contact me
at 505-531-2270.
