I used to wonder why I had so much trouble holding altitude. Just got my cables rigged. One was slack when there's supposed to be a certain amount of tension they tell me. I fly better now.
Caution: make sure your aerodynamic trim tab on the elevator has a good spring. We've heard that a bad spring combined with the cable coming loose from the tab can allow the tab to flutter. This causes the elevator to flutter. This may cause the tail to flutter. Then you flutter down in pieces. A good spring makes a cable attachment failure a non-issue. Check it every annual.
