tail up fix

Hi All;

I have had the tail up bushings installed, and the 337 prepared.  Now
I am told that I need to reference an STC in order to gain approval
for this fix from the FAA.  I can find no reference to an FTC
concerning this subject.  Does anyone know if it is true that I must
reference an STC?
