All right, I searched through the archives and also checked out
Continental's Care and Feeding page and didn't get any specific
recommendations so I'll ask this newbie question for you veterans out
there....
What are you all using for oil (hope this isn't another religious
question!)
Reqs: frequent engine use in the summer months. If two
brands/weights
are "close" in quality then the lower price is better.
Where have you found the cheapest place to buy? My FBO charges $3 a
quart- have any of you found it in 1 gallon or 5 gallon buckets
cheaper than this (by a lot I hope)? I plan to fly 200 hours this
next year (really!) so large buckets would seem the cost effective
way
to go.
Maybe the 'Coupers list could buy a 55 gallon drum and sell it off 5
gallons at a time! Anybody doing this in Oregon/ S. Washington? I
fly there on returning could strap 5 gallons as my co-pilot- wouldn't
even have to listen to her (or is that "him") talk ;)
Also, my engine seems to use about a quart every 5 hours- is this
normal? One fellow says its good (anything over 3-4 hours) and the
other says I must have a really tired engine. What gives?
Thanks again- you folks are great!
Joa
8.3 hours TT and lovin' it even more (especially since my landings
are
getting a *lot* smoother!)
