I take off with the canopy full open, fly it around 100 mph full open, and on occasion land it full open. There is no problem to close it. On the contrary, until you get it open past the 1/2 way point, it wants to gradually close itself so I use a wooden dowel to keep it from closing. Why would it fly off, it was designed to be flown that way.
