Geoff,
If you are using FC4, you need to upgrade it using yum update command. In
my fresh FC4 installation i got a HIGH dns resolving time too.
in you imap config file, try to change IMAP_IDLE_TIMEOUT=1 and tell us if
your problem is solved. ( In imap client use ip addr of your server just for
testing... )
