I've been working to setup my system for remote IMAP to an XP laptop.  I'm attempting to setup SASL and TLS to work with:
Courier-imap
postfix
cyrus-sasl
squirrelmail
mailman

At this point, I can do the following:

From Sylpheed-claws, on the linux server, I can:
use STARTTLS
send and receive in an out of domain

From the XP laptop's Thunderbird, I can:
send in and out of the domain

However, the laptop cannot read the IMAP directories and when I send, I get errors about the inability to save to Sent, etc...

/etc/courier-imap/imapd-ssl contains:
SSLPORT=993
SSLADDRESS=0
SSLPIDFILE=/var/run/imapd-ssl.pid
IMAPDSSLSTART=YES
IMAPDSTARTTLS=YES
IMAP_TLS_REQUIRED=0
COURIERTLS=/usr/sbin/couriertls
# When this is set to SSL3, I get a cert check in T-bird but I still can't get in
TLS_PROTOCOL=TLS1
TLS_STARTTLS_PROTOCOL=TLS1
TLS_CERTFILE=/etc/courier-imap/imapd.pem
TLS_VERIFYPEER=NONE
TLS_CACHEFILE=/var/lib/courier-imap/couriersslcache
TLS_CACHESIZE=524288

/etc/conf.d/saslauthd contains:

#SASLAUTH_MECH=shadow
#SASL_RIMAP_HOSTNAME=""
#SASL_TIME_OF_DAY_LOGIN_RESTRICTIONS=yes
#SASLAUTHD_OPTS="-a ${SASLAUTH_MECH}"

SASLAUTHD_OPTS="${SASLAUTH_MECH} -a rimap -r"
SASLAUTHD_OPTS="${SASLAUTHD_OPTS} -O localhost"

So, I'm looking for guidance on how to bring this beast to life.  I'll gladly share file info and test results.

Phil
