Thus, /usr/share is the correct place for it according to the FHS. Now, I don't know how RH/FC handle a ro mounted /usr. But I do have some Debian servers with this configuration. I was able to configure dpkg to remount /usr as rw prior to package installation or removal and then remount again as ro afterwards.
