Well, presumably you haven't used Mail.app on MacOS. Although its IMAP  
support is not perfect, Mail.app has a damn good GUI and has plenty of  
functionality of its own and inherited from the OS. Too bad that it  
broke at one point namespace support, so that when I upgraded to the  
latest version which fixed it to some extent, I had to rebuild all my  
accounts...
Still, if they had licensed Sam's IMAP client code from cone...
