Hello,
We have been on a steady growth from ~60 users to ~110. For last 2 months
we have been experiencing high load on the servers and we can't figure out
what the problem is here. We think it has something to do with imapd
process. When killing top 4 processes the load will go from 79 to under 2.
We see a minimal amount of data passing via iotop. We see disk usage under
1mb/s with 4-60tps.

How can I figure out what the issue is with the imapd process? What it
looks like after looking at it for last 2 months is minimal io usage,
higher cpu usage for top 4 processes for about 4 seconds, before they get
replaced by other 4 processes running at cpu for couple seconds. cpu for
these ranges 32% to 94%. No other jobs. Lower network bandwidth ~20kb/s.
Everything looks like we should be going at full speed.

Any ideas or help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Lucas

Debian Stable
Mail client - Default Thunderbird 993 port.
Dell Server on raid5.

See below categories to see they don't show a problem:

*Disk:*
iotop:
Disk write : 43.64kb/s
Disk Read: 50kb/s to 1mb/sq
Seems like a disk can go at 100mb/s at least so it doesn't seem busy

*Memory:*
16GB. Seems sufficient for the load.
total used free shared buffers cached
Mem: 16369492 15742564 626928 344676 20 11766700
-/+ buffers/cache: 3975844 12393648
Swap: 16678908 108648 16570260

*CPU:*
Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2450 0 @ 2.10GHz
processor : 15
I would say plenty of CPU power.

*#of processes?*
I see a lot of them get created, I see a lot of them sleeping. 100 people
* ~5 connections each = ~500, I see 937.
