systemd is a dumpster fire. It boggles the mind that Debian chose not only to merely package systemd, but create a whole bunch of scaffolding in debhelper that goes beyond what even Fedora did in terms of automation and integration.
But be it as it may, it's here, and it's necessary to deal with it.
