Ok, I did some more digging around and noticed that when I do a
/etc/rc.d/init.d/courier start a bunch of authdaemond.pgsql processes
get started and NOT authdaemond.mysql. Why is that? authdaemonrc
doesn't have authpgsql...only authmysql. Given I am trying to do MySQL
authentication that wasn't good.

I manually stopped authdaemond.pgsql and started the .mysql couterpart,
verified it is running doing a "ps -ef" and then issued the following
authtest:

authtest couriertest password

and now I get:

Temporary authentication failure from module authdaemon
Authentication FAILED!

I then opened authmysqlrc to verify everything and it all looks right.
