Thanks! I do indeed get a hang for a fixed period of time when connecting to the ESMTP port. Thanks for pointing me in the proper direction... now it's just a DNS issue. Thanks again!

The description just sounded like something I ran into recently: I started seeing 60-second ESMTP delays waiting on reverse-lookups for machines on the local network. If you telnet to port 25, do you get the ESMTP greeting immediately, or does it hang for a fixed time?
