I am currently using Mail.app on Mac OS X and reading your message from
a folder on my Courier server, so it does work. There might be something
else wrong.

Just yesterday I ran a script to convert mbox mailboxes to maildirs and
accidentally ran it against .bashrc. This created a bad entry in my
Maildir/ directory. As a result, Mail.app had trouble reading INBOX
(although some other IMAP clients worked fine). When I deleted this
.bashrc from Maildir/, everything started working fine. Maybe you have a
bad directory or file in Maildir/, too?
