# Any ideas about why RPM adds "file perl is not owned by any package" to
# the Requires:?

It's the way that dependancies are build into a package. Some run scripts that
will rpm -qf each file needed by a ldd courier. Since it calls 'perl' there
might be a perl in your path that wasn't installed via RPM.
