OK, I follwed the installion steps very very carefully and with the
following configuration:
./configure --with-waitfunc=wait3 --without-authldap --without-authuserdb
--without-authcram --without-authvchkpw --without-authmysql
--without-authdaemon --without-authcustom
--with-authpam --with-authpwd --with-authshadow
Basically I just want to authenticate with my system users. I am running
Red Hat 7.3 and all the installtion seemed to go fine, I didn't see any
errors. I start it up by typing:
/usr/lib/courier-imap/libexec/imapd.rc
and changed nothing but:
LIBAUTHMODULES="authpam authshadow authpwd"
in the /usr/lib/courier-imap/libexec/imapd.rc
When I try to connect via MS Outlook I get the following error when I first
try to connect:
"A connection to the server could not be established. xxx-server is now in
offline mode."
or when I try to download my folders:
"Could not fetch new headers in the inbox for xxx-server. An unknowd error
has occured. Please save any existing work and restart the program."
I also made sure to remove all my firewalls just to be make sure, but I can
connect via telnet to port 143. I don't see anything else I can try, any
help would be gretly appreciated.
