I am trying to setup a .mailfilter for the first time and am not
having much luck. I have tried all of the documentation I can find (man
pages, google, and searching the archives), and have not found any
answers. My problem is that I can't seem to get courier to apply any
local filtering.
I am running on FreeBSD, using a standard ports install. Here is what
I have done so far:
Placed a .mailfilter file in my home directory, with permissions set
to 600. The filter simply says to place any file into a Maildir inside
my INBOX maildir. (to "Maildir/.atest").
Set enablefiltering to "esmtp local"
Checked that both maildrop and maildropfilter point to the maildrop
binary.
Searched for any error messages in maillog and in messages that might
be pertinent.
When I send a test message to myself (with locally or remotely) I get
the message in my regular inbox, as if the .mailfilter was being
compltely ignored. Is there some step I am missing to turn on
filtering? Thanks much for any help!
