Courier does not implement APOP - which has been obsoleted by SASL CRAM-MD5 or SASL CRAM-SHA1. See INSTALL for information on configuring SASL authentication.

"Secure Password Authentication" is Microsoftese for a proprietary, non-standard, MS-only protocol.
