This prevents this client from being able to delete messages on the server as well as not being able to save sent messages to the "Sent" folder. I researched this on the comp.mail.imap newsgroup (see the link below). To solve this problem, at least according to the poster in this newsgroup, I think I need to create another top level folder called "Deleted Items" to go along with INBOX. Is this possible? How would I do

There are no tricks. If the client is not smart enough to handle namespace issues correctly, there's nothing that the server can do about it.
