A good day to you all. i'm trying to come up with a simple script that tests basic IMAP functionality; apparently early on i've hit a snag.
When i telnet directly to port 143 and enter the LOGIN command manually, i keep getting NO responses from the server(i am using 1.7.0) instead of the +OK response. i suspected that the telnet client was at fault, but i've already tried 3 different telnet clients on win32 and linux(rh8.0).
The funny thing is netscape messenger seems to have to problem logging on; i even went so far as to sniff and capture the actual LOGIN string messenger used; still no go.
i am also getting inconsistent responses from the IMAP server; according to the sniffer dump, messenger issued a "capability" command, and got an OK response; when i try by manually telnet-ing to 143, i get a NO response, but get an OK response if i use "CAPABILITY" (all caps). strange.
Any suggestions?
