As for your other query, verify that authuserdb is declared in the authmodulelist in authdaemonrc. The default specifies:
authmodulelist="authcustom authcram authuserdb authldap authmysql authpam"
If you're still struggling, show us some error logs.
My default list was the same as that, with the addition of authpgsql, in between authldap & authmysql. I am not using ldap, pgsql or mysql with courier-imap, so I removed execute permission from authdaemond.ldap, authdaemond.pgsql & authdaemond.mysql in /usr/lib/courier-imap/libexec/authlib and removed authldap, authpgsql & authmysql from authmodulelist. Now, the startup script ultimately calls authdaemond.plain.
It still doesn't work though.
How do I get more debugging output other than setting DEBUG=2 ? I did that and included the meager output in my first post. I'll gladly post more log output if you'll tell me how to get it. :)
