this is my first time installing the Courier package. O/S is Red Hat 7.3, fully patched. Courier is 0.42.2. I have followed the INSTALL instructions from top to bottom (I think). The Child Process Termination and User/Group ID tests ran OK. I want to authenticate using the O/S user/password.
Neither IMAP nor WebMail access can authenticate, attempting to send through SMTP asks for credentials and fails to authenticate. The Webadmin interface can authenticate but that may be a different mechanism.
authdaemond is running, I forced it to use authdaemon.plain (install came up with authdaemon.ldap and Child Process test would not work). In etc/authdaemonrc, authmodulelist is set to the default. In etc/imapd AUTHMODULES is set to "authdeamon"
I noted that the Webadmin page for password authentication modules there are no authentication modules shown as active "adding" a module through this page does not appear to change that.
Any ideas what I have missed or next steps to troubleshoot??
