Well i'm having similar issues, all types of problems getting mail from
*.microsoft *.newletters.com address's myself

Courier is not an open relay.  Prove it -- show some sample headers,
please.

What's more likely is that you have a broken formmail script, or a
trojan, 
spewing junk from localhost.
