Your system should have a generic tool for tracing a process, called strace and truss.
Log in to the account. Find the pid of the imapd process, then trace it.
You will need to review your documentation to select the correct options for strace/truss. For strace, you'd want to use at least -s 8192 in order to see the complete arguments to all system calls.
