ok, I completed the install. I have courierd, esmtpd, pop3d, authdaemond running.

Here are my 2 problems:

1.
I can send mail to my work account. Messages received at work have a header like this:
Received: from woody ([68.145.164.182])
by mail.arcis.com (Merak 6.2.1) with ESMTP (SSL) id LRA37587
for <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; Wed, 17 Dec 2003 00:27:02 -0700
Received: from snowsquirrel.ca (woody.snowsquirrel.ca [::ffff:192.168.0.3])
(IDENT: 1000)
by woody with esmtp; Wed, 17 Dec 2003 00:00:15 -0700
Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Date: Wed, 17 Dec 2003 00:00:15 -0700

When I try to send mail to a hotmail acct. or even to this mailing list, the mail does not show up. I get no bounce message from hotmail, but from this address I get abounce mail with this message.

Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 550 Don't like your HELO/EHLO. Hostname must contain a dot.

I am guessing this is the same reason hotmail won't take it. how can I fix this?

2.
if I do a
echo "To: shea" | sendmail
then the mail shows up in my Maildir. good. but mail from the outside is not getting in. my router is forwarding tcp/25. Is there another port I need? I can connect to port 25 from the outside with telnet. yet mail sent to [EMAIL PROTECTED] does not show up. The only thing I can find in logs which mail be relevant is:
Dec 17 00:08:16 woody courieresmtpd: started,ip=[::ffff:68.168.78.202]
Dec 17 00:08:27 woody courieresmtpd: started,ip=[::ffff:68.168.78.196]
Dec 17 00:12:53 woody courieresmtpd: started,ip=[::ffff:24.71.223.10]
Dec 17 00:13:01 woody courieresmtpd: error,relay=::ffff:24.71.223.10,msg="502 ESMTP command error",cmd: DATA
Dec 17 00:14:08 woody courieresmtpd: started,ip=[::ffff:64.42.233.33]
Dec 17 00:15:07 woody courieresmtpd: started,ip=[::ffff:64.4.9.83]
What step am I missing to be able to recieve mail? I probably need to turn relaying on, but does this mean that I will only relay mail for [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Thanks,

~S
