Here are a couple of options I'd use:

1.  Enable mysql logs.  (See mysql documentation -- binary
logs/replication)
2.  Use snort (search rpmfind for snort if you don't have it). It will
enable you to examine what's happening on a particular port.  Ask about
mysql port, and you'll see the specific queries being run.
