Hi all, I'm new to the list, so bear with me.

I have a reoccurring issue with our user community, and I'll bet pot
brownies to poundcake that this is a common issue with a common fix.

I'm running a FreeBSD box with Postfix and Courier for POP mail for around
1500 user accounts for 150 clients. On a regular basis, a message gets stuck
in the POP queue when downloading new mail. This happens mostly with those
who get a 300-1200 messages at a time. This hangs the whole frickin queue
and keeps the users from using their e-mail altogether.

I'll be that this is because if an error in M$'s error handling in Outlook,
OE for Wintendos and Macs, and Entourage for Mac the common thread being M$.
The other common thread seems to be the massive number of messages they
have. Some have the 'leave messages on server' option enabled, some do not,
so I don't think this is the problem, other than that option backing up
messages stored on the server.

This is a major PITA for me. I have to talk our clients through deleting
e-mail messages until they find the offending message using our webmail
interface, which is dog slow, especially when dealing with 300-1000+
messages, not to mention explaining the difference between a logon and
e-mail address. This seems to happen around 3-5 times a week, sucking up 20
minutes to an hour for each call. The clients also seem to point the finger
at us, accusing us of 'changing' the server setting and messing their mail
up.

Is there a setting on Courier to make it more M$ friendly?

Sorry for the common question, I'm sure this must have been covered before.
I Googled this before posting and found almost nothing.

Thanks!
