Hi,

We have problems with some of our pop3d users spiking the load on our
mail server. Some tend to set their mail client to not delete messages
from the server, and their inboxes grow past 100 megs. Thus, when they
check their inbox, courier's pop3d has to scan 100+ megs worth of
messages, which requires a lot of i/o and processing. Our solution to
this in the past has been to call these users, and request that they
switch to using imap. However, it would be much easier if we could
automate this process, by either:

a) forcing messages to be deleted after being downloaded via pop3, or
b) disallowing pop3 logins if an inbox reaches a certain (configurable)
size.

Are either of these an option? We're using a pretty old version of
courier (0.37.3), so if there are any pop3 optimizations in newer
versions, upgrading is a possibility.
