I have connection
information being logged to /var/log/maillog every minute for every user on the
system. I was wondering if this could be redirected to another file, or
suppressed using a different log level. I'm hoping this was something I
turned on at some point to confirm connections were being made. It's not a
huge problem but it does make the maillog more difficult to read if there are
issues with the SMTP server.

Multiply this by 10 users every minute and the log file is quite
extensive.
Also this has been
an ongoing thorn in my side. XINETD is supposed to launch fam when it is
called for, but doesn't seem to be doing its job. If I manually launch
fam&, no new entries appear in the log until fam decides it has done it's
job and quits, then the entries come back, reoccuring every minute for every
user trying to access courier-imap.

I'm thinking someone else has seen this problem and
knows what I need to fix. I don't recall having this issue before
upgrading from RH8.0 to RHEL3.
We are
running Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES, with postfix as the SMTP, and Courier-IMAP
as pop3 and imap server, with Courier-Maildrop.
I'm
not certain what information to include here that would aid in solving
this.
