If I surround a delivery instruction with an exception and the delivery fails due to a non-existent folder, will the message be delivered to the default location, or will the mail still back up in the queue due to the failed delivery attempt?
As I understand it, if a statement inside an EXCEPTION fails then
delivery just continues from that point. So what happens after the exception is triggered depends on what else is in your mailfilter file. Assuming that there is a line that says "./Maildir" (or whatever you use for "normal" delivery) then yes, the message should be delivered to the default INBOX.
