No, not really. couriermlm does a number of things that are needed for a mailing list manager to work smoothly with Courier. couriermlm is aware, for example, of Courier's limits on the maximum number of recipients per message, and will batch things accordingly. couriermlm will try to batch all recipients for the same domain into the same message, for optimum delivery purposes. Also, couriermlm submits messages to Courier in such a way as to minimize the chances of the message submission running up against some of Courier's message filters (which would then kick out the entire message, for all the recipients).
