After the mailtroubles are restored, I get a notification from the mailinglist which mails could not be delivered. In that sense you don't loose mail, you just have to get it yourself. I'm not sure which mailinglist it was last time (I think Bugtraq), but I have seen this behaviour over the years with multiple mailinglists. Now this would be fine if the timeouts on those lists would be anything near an normal MTA, however these seem to be a few hours at most. I can understand that a big mailinglist server does not want a large baglog, so the timeouts are kept short, but this is a pain when your mail goes down for more than a couple of hours.
