hello guys, i'm really stumped now and fishing for ideas.
for the last few weeks courier has been crashing every day (the courier and esmtpd processes crashes. courierfilter stays up), usually once or twice a day, sometimes more. there is absolutely no error in the logs indicating to a possible cause (i double checked that). nothing changed on the server except adding an ARCHIVEDIR. i have since removed it, and all of the saved mails thinking it was causing that problem. the times are essentially random but usually in the morning or early afternoon, nothing as easy as a misplaced crontab or at job. version of courier is 0.47 (debian packaged) running on Debian Sarge. the server is a Dell PowerEdge 2650 with 2Gb of ram. filesystems are as follow: /dev/sda1 on / type reiserfs (rw) /dev/MAIN/HOME on /home type reiserfs (rw,nosuid, noatime) /dev/MAIN/VAR on /var type reiserfs (rw) the Maildirs are in /home, the spool and ARCHIVEDIR in /var i don't really expect a complete solution considering the lack of details, but ideas and things i should be looking at. thanks -- Daniel Higgins Netcommunications Inc.
