Arg! Nevermind my last message, sorry. I really do try and fix this stuff on my own without bothering the list. I could swear I checked it several times but postini.ourdomain.com was not added to esmtpacceptmailfor.
I also needed to use the original sendmail and not courier's sendmail. I installed Courier from the RPM this time and it apparently overwrites /usr/sbin/sendmail. Still a nagging question, though: Why doesn't courier's sendmail work? Is this by design? Thanks, Ryan -----Original Message----- From: Ryan Parlee [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Sunday, February 05, 2006 8:24 PM To: [email protected] Subject: preventing local delivery first --- broken after courier upgrade BACKGROUND ----------------------------------- We use Postini for spam filtering. We also use courier's dot-courier-default mechanism so that we can do [EMAIL PROTECTED] Therefore, we need mail to work like this: CLIENT -> OUR SERVER -> POSTINI -> OUR SERVER This allows us to cram a bunch of aliases into a single Postini account (this is okay with Postini as we pay on a per user basis). We had achieved the desired result (before having to migrate to a new server and new courier install) by having our .courier files for [EMAIL PROTECTED] look like this: | /usr/sbin/sendmail [EMAIL PROTECTED] Mail was delivered to postini, then filtered and non-spam mail was delivered back to us; this time being delivered to courier as [EMAIL PROTECTED] Which, of course, the .courier file just delivers to the Maildir. THE PROBLEM --------------------------------- Mail never gets to Postini. Courier's sendmail now seems to first check if [EMAIL PROTECTED] is a local account (which it is), rather than look at the MX records and try to deliver to the Postini servers. How can I tell sendmail to NOT deliver locally first? Thanks for your help! -Ryan ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc.
