Mail never gets to Postini. Courier's sendmail now seems to first check if
[EMAIL PROTECTED] is a local account (which it is), rather than
look at the MX records and try to deliver to the Postini servers. How can I
tell sendmail to NOT deliver locally first?

Given your description, I'm at a loss to figure out how that ever worked. You described a setup where messages were injected into the queue via dot-courier files to the postini.ourdomain.com domain and sent to your Postini host, and then later injected into the queue via SMTP to the same domain and delivered locally.

The problem with that desription is that the courierd daemon doesn't treat messages differently based on how they were injected. Any message in the queue for the postini.ourdomain.com domain should either be delivered locally, or sent to Postini, but not variable based on the injection method.

The only way I can imagine that this worked before is that your "sendmail" binary was Sendmail, Inc.'s sendmail, rather than Courier's sendmail. That might have produced the different behaviors you're describing.

You'll need to either re-architect your bouncing system, which seems silly, or install Sendmail-sendmail in an alternate location, and change your dot-courier files to use that.

I'd recommend putting your Postini servers on the front line, and directing mail to them directly. Mail from the internet should hit the Postini hosts, and then go to your internal, Courier hosts, without bouncing back-and-forth. Mail from your own clients shouldn't be filtered at all.
