Back to the problem...
Is there a folder or group of folders used by Courier to do temporary
work? The cannot copy error occurrs even if I start from a fresh Maildir
directory. I have not been able to use this domain for almost a week.
I understand that a dying hard disk is an extreme situation, but if
Courier can get this messed up.. and it is this difficult to
troubleshoot I am just surprised that it is as widely used as it is.. I
must be missing something.. it can't be this difficult to debug this
problem.
If you aren't finding what you need in the logs, I think you should
follow Sam's previous suggestion, and trace the imap session with
ktrace. You should be able to configure an IMAP client not to save the
password, so that you can connect, identify the imapd process, begin a
trace, and then authenticate. That order should allow you maximum
opportunity to observe the error.
