The problem is that Courier has already read the message into memory
before calling the filters and does not read it again after the
filtering.  So if you change the message file, the changes will not
be reflected in the copy of the message that is already in memory.


What are the reasons for reading that file before filters? How about making courier understand that it has to reread filtered file by supplying "100 please reread" answer from filter (for example)?

It's very easy to make random propositions of this kind.

But, putting in the effort to actually implement it, and test it, is much, much harder.
