Observed the same behaviour on my server too. (v.0.47, I know, it's old but Yevheniy reports the same problem on much newer). Root of the problem – messages in the queue which does not end with \r\n (in my case neither of these symbols are present at the file end). In my case such messages goes into queue via SMTP. How and where do they loose ending \r\n I have no idea :-// There are very few of such messages (<<1%), so I did not yet managed to get a dump of smtp conversation of such message comming into my system. But I will try (most of such messages comes from one external domain).
I don't like the proposed change because it adds extra line to _every_ message.
