My specific concern is about the *.dat files created by the make* utilities.  
The text config files are owned by courier but the *.dat files are owned by 
root as I generally run the make* scripts as root.  The error I was getting 
from Pythonfilter states an inability to access smptaccess.dat and this made me 
wonder whether I should change the ownership of the *.dat files to courier for 
proper functioning.
