Thank you. A silly elementary problem. Apologies for all the
noisy emails about this. I now have IMAP auth working using
read instead of cat.

However, this may be a "real" problem. When I use SMTP
authentication as "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" to send email out through
the server, this line seems to strip the domain part...

so I can't work out which virtual user to check for. Is this
something else I am missing or a "bug" with the authdaemon
API ?
