Make sure that the user's 'Maildir' was created with the 'maildirmake' command and that the resulting directory is owned by the user himself. So you either need to create the Maildir as that user, or run 'sudo chown -R $USER /home/$USER/Maildir' command afterwards so that the whole thing is owner by the user. Then save yourself the trouble of having to do this again by running sudo maildirmake /etc/skel/Maildir Now any new users you create will automatically have a "~/Maildir" already properly set up.
