It's not necessary to subject others to a boring trace file. The bottom line was that the null return address was logically making Courier is alias's .courier instead of .courier-default, which was missing, causing the default delivery of running maildrop. Maildrop then discarded the message going to the alias account, as per /etc/maildroprc.
